He was senior founder of the West London Synagogue British Jews and oldest member of the congregation. Distinguished Hebraist and Biblical scholar and a zealous advocate of the ancient creed of Israel he published many instructive works for the benefit of his coreligionists and his name will be respected by generations to come as the translator of the work faith strengthened.

2Eli Faber, Jews, Slaves, and the Slave Trade: Setting the Record Straight. "Daniel Ximenes of Daniel Ximenes & Co, and Moses Franks. Ximenes
may well have resided in Kingston. In I783 he married one of the jewish
communiqfs daughters, Abigail Lousada, the daughter of one of its
leading merchants; Royal Gazette, January 11, 1783, Supplement, lists
her father, Emmanuel Baruch Lousada, Esquire, as one of the three
largest Jewish contributors to a fund for English captives. The marriage
announcement is in ibid., November 29, 1783, Supplement. Moreover,
in 1785, Ximenes's vessel, the Abigail, his new wife's name, was regis-
tered at Kingston. It entered Jamaica on six occasions with flour, corn,
cotton, mahogany, and indigo from Hispaniola, and cleared out to St.
Thomas. three times in ballast and once with slaves."
